My Policies

Background & Training

I graduated from Daymar College in Owensboro, KY in June of 2010. My schooling consisted of a 900 hour program of hands on training and learning the essentials of the human body. The style of body work I practice focuses in two directions:

  • Stress reduction and relaxation
  • Work with pain and injury problems

Massage therapy is useful for a variety of pain, injury and tension problems, but does not address serious medical conditions.  After massaging a client depending on his or her condition, I may refer them to a specializing physician in the area of their issues for treatment if there is a possible need for a more specialized treatment.

Who Can Benefit?

Massage therapy is successful in working with problems related to excess tension build up, chronic pain and musculoskeletal injuries. In addition to working with pain and tension problems in the neck, back, ankle, knee, shoulder and so forth. Massage therapy is very effective with people who suffer from chronic headaches, insomnia and problems with fatigue.

Massage Therapy can also be very beneficial for pregnant women and is often used as an adjunct to certain medical conditions on the recommendation of a physician. Some of the issues that massage therapy is used to treat during pregnancy include high blood pressure, anxiety or stress.

Others who may benefit greatly from massage are people in psychotherapy who would like to be more in touch with their bodies. Or just want to relish the moment for a way to just relax and de-stress.

Client / Practitioner Expectations

The first session will begin with an interview and health history. You will be asked a series of questions and an assessment will be performed. Keep in mind that privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times. Clients may wear a smock and leave their underwear on if they wish. During the session, clients will be covered and draped with sheets and towels, only uncovering the body part being worked on at that particular time. The genitals are NEVER exposed or massaged.

Massage sessions may start with the client lying face up or face down depending on the purpose of the session. If the session focuses on a particular injury, that part of the body is focused on first. For a regular stress-reduction session, the back and neck are worked on first, followed by legs, feet and arms. Clients can request for certain parts of the body to be or not to be worked on and are encouraged to discuss this at the beginning of the session.

Some massage sessions may require the use of lotions or oils. My clients are required to inform me of any allergies he or she may have to lotions or oils before the session begins.

During massage sessions, clients are encouraged to relax and inform me if anything makes them uncomfortable whether it be physically or psychologically. Talking may possibly occur during the session, but will be kept to a minimum because the massage session may take a good deal of concentration. If something feels uncomfortable at anytime during the session, please speak up immediately for I will want to know as soon as possible.

Sessions do not vary much in length. Sessions normally last anywhere between 50 and 60 minutes.  Soreness may occur after a massage takes place and can last for up to 2 days after the session. Be sure to notify me immediately if you experience soreness that lasts more that 2 days.

  • I do reserve the right to refuse treatment to any person who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Sexual harassment will not be tolerated.  If I feel that my safety feels compromised at anytime the session will be stopped immediately.
